So, what exactly is the value of exposing your child to the arts and why should it be part of

their childhood years?

“

Art enables us to find ourselves

”

and lose ourselves at the same time.

~ Thomas Merton

Exposure to the arts allows children to develop better self-expression,

strengthens their self-confidence and nurtures creative thinking. With

the encouragement of a supportive adult, children can explore the
world around them through the arts and gain greater self-awareness of

their abilities. Best of all, the arts are fun and arts-related activities can

be a great way for families to spend time together.

“

This world is but a canvas to

”

our imagination.

~Henry David Thoreau

The arts expands a child’s window to the world. Whether through stories told on stage or having a chance

to head out doors to paint the landscape, the arts can inspire children and provide them with new
perspectives about their environment. Releasing their imagination from the confines of the everyday,

the arts allows them to exercise creativity and provides them with a belief in their ability to pursue their

wildest dreams.

“
”
every artist was first an amateur.

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Gaining a deep mastery of the arts requires discipline and plenty of practise. While it is easy to sign up for

a dance class or start piano lessons, dedication and commitments are required to reach higher skill levels.
If your child develops a passion for an artistic discipline, to gain mastery over it, they will invariably need to

develop perseverance and persistence - valuable traits for children to cultivate.
